Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I completed the London Marathon on 26th April 2009 in an official time of 3:10:09. This made me 1689th overall, 1576th male and 94th VET50. I was hoping to be higher placed in my own age group - it just shows you that there are lots of 50-somethings out there that can still run well. I've surpassed the Fit-for-Age time of 3:15 so I should get entries for both 2010 and 2011 without applying through the ballot scheme. I am planning to "play" the crowds more next year so watch out London!
I was really impressed by the staff at "The Children's Trust" who ran this year's charity team. They looked after us runners so well - it was a pleasure running for them. I have exceeded my self-imposed limit of £2000 and all this will go to the trust with not a single penny taken out.
The DALEK completed the Bupa Great Edinburgh 10k on Sunday 3rd May 2009. Father-and-son helpers Jim and Pete Toye, along with sister-in-law, Nats managed to raise a further £406 for the Children's Trust collecting cash from on-lookers at this race. Well done to Ruth Shering (mother-in-law) who completed the curse (whoops I meant course) in 1:11 for a new PB. Picture of the DALEK taken from the BBC news website.
I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO ALL THOSE THAT DONATED HARD-EARNED CASH TO SUPPORT ME IN THIS. YOU ARE A CREDIT TO HUMANITY!
I am trying to contact everybody, either by 'phone or email, to say thank-you to you myself. I apologise if I miss one or two.
Keep smiling and thanks again (Bob J 28th April 2009)
