Story
In 2010 my mum's twin sister, my auntie Ber lost her 18 month battle to bowel cancer. She was just 49.
She lived her life caring for her family and worked tirelessly in the local community to campaign for people with mental health issues, a subject that was close to her heart.
Those of us who knew Ber remember her dogged determination and dignity in facing her many life challenges. Her ability to laugh when others would cry and smile when others would despair, is something that will always stay with me and has inspired this challenge.
Two registered charites the Bexley & Greenwich hospice, and MacMillan nurses will benefit from the donations pledged. Both supported and cared for Ber during her most trying times and were a comfort to the rest of the family.
In Bers memory, i hope to raise as much money as possible by walking a 1200 mile route from the furthest northern tip of the UK, John 'o' groats in Scotland, to the most southern tip in the UK lands end.
I aim to complete the walk in 35 consecutive days averaging 35 miles daily, mainly camping wild, carrying my own supplies and staying off road where possible. I would love people who are interested to come and join me on the walk and will post a map of my route soon, anyone with good map reading skills would be a bonus (my map reading could extend the route by some distance).
Any donations will be greatly apprieciated, thank you in advance.
