Bobby Moore Abseil · 17 March 2007 ·

Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund in partnership with Cancer Research UK, following the death of her husband, Bobby Moore, from bowel cancer. The Bobby Moore Fund is now a leader in the fight against bowel cancer, funding research that’s helping more people to survive than ever before.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have foolishly agreed to complete a freefall abseil 140 feet from the roof of the Bobby Moore Stand at  West Ham football ground on 17th March 2007 to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund.

The Bobby Moore Fund raises money for bowel cancer research, further details can be found at the charity's website, www.cancerresearchuk.org/bobbymoorefund

As you probably know Bobby died of bowel cancer in 1993 aged just 51.

My association with Bobby Moore pre dates my birth in 1964. West Ham had reached their first cup final in my  West Ham mad father's lifetime. He told my then pregnant mum, ( I don't think that she had a choice!), that if  West Ham won the cup and the baby was of boy flavour, that he would be named after the great man himself. He was my hero from the womb! He was my boyhood hero from the terraces and remains my hero today.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I hope that you are able to assist me in raising money for this very worthy cause.

Many thanks for your support.

Bob
