As you may know, I have been walking the Thames Path once a year since 2006 to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. This year I will be doing the walk again to raise money for the Fund’s vital bowel cancer research, and I very much hope that you will be able to support me by sponsoring me for the walk.
The Thames Path Walk is a 185 mile route from the Source of the Thames in Kemble, to the Thames Barrier. I will be walking the route from 4th-18th September in daily legs of around 12-13 miles each. I set myself this challenge every year because my good friend, and England’s only World Cup winning captain, Bobby Moore OBE, died from bowel cancer in 1993 aged just 51. The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK raises awareness of bowel cancer and money for first class bowel cancer research.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer death in the UK, sadly 44 men and women die from the disease every day. By sponsoring me to walk the Thames Path for the Bobby Moore Fund you can give others hope, a better quality of life and maybe, one day, a future free from the fear of bowel cancer.
