British 10k London Run 2009 · 12 July 2009 ·

From its foundation in 1876, The Whitechapel Mission continues caring for the poor and homeless of London regardless of race or religion, in their struggle against hunger, poverty, disease, prejudice and exclusion.

Story

Hallo!

We're running this 10k on 12 July to raise money for The Whitechapel Mission (www.whitechapel.org.uk).  The Mission helps around 150-200 homeless people every day (up to 300 at the weekend) - providing showers and toilets, hot food and drink, and clean secondhand clothing.  Importantly, it is also a safe environment where people can access the sort of support (literacy, friendship, counselling, etc.) that can enable them to get themselves off the streets permanently.

Donating through JustGiving is easy and secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Whitechapel Mission gets the money faster; and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, JustGiving ensures 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  Even better: the BoE will match the amount we raise.

Thanks,

The BoE FX Desk (Dave, Patrick, Chris, Shanks, Scott, and Rob)

ps: we promise to post photos of us at the end of the run so you can a) see that we did it, and b) have a good laugh at us!
