World Water Bombing Championships
4 May 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Boggarts Breakfast JustGiving page.
Well we did it and survived, we didnt win but thats down to our toned athletic bodies, as required by top dancers, being unsuitable for making a huge splash.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, If you have not yet donated its not too late, you can do it now.
You can see the proof we did it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WdH5fIGGUY
we are starting our pie and beer diet now in preparation for next year.
All at Boggarts Bathtime.
If you would like to see what we do when we are not water bombing, please visit www.boggartsbreakfast.org.uk and come and see us dance.
To raise funds for macmillan, Boggarts Breakfast have entered a team in the World Water Bombing Championships to be held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Wednesday 4th may 2011. This team of 4 is called Boggarts Bathtime and is made up of Jon Goodinson, Rich Aidley, Liz Heaphy and Dan Newton. We are all members of Boggarts Breakfast. Morris dancers based in Sheffield. We can be seen dancing throughout the year at local pubs, events and further afield at some of the major folk music and dance festivals in the uk. In the past we have danced on ice, in the fountain in the Peace Gardens and even in the caves of Castleton but this will be the first time we have danced our way off a 3 metre diving board. We did not feel the need to put in any extra training for this event (except for maybe a few extra pints of ale) because as Morris dancers as you will witness on the night, we are alway in the peak of physical condition.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So please dig deep and donate now.
Special Guest
I am pleased to announce our special guest taking part in the championships this year is Jo Brand. She is filming for a new series that will feature on DAVE called Jo Brand’s Big Splash. We are all very excited about this at Macmillan, we hope you are too!
Fundraising – what’s it all for?
As Macmillan in 100 years old this year we are hoping to raise £10,000 from the championships, if we hit this target it will be the most we have EVER raised at the event.
Your £376 min sponsorship is an important part of achieving this target as it equates to two days of Macmillan nursing care. We are currently fundraising for a number of Macmillan services in Sheffield which include a Macmillan nurse specialising in lung cancer based at Weston Park called Vicky Hall. Vicky supports people affected by cancer in many different ways including helping patients manage their symptoms and providing emotional support as well as being there
for their family.
Vicky is also able to access Macmillan grants and other financial support which helps people deal with extra costs cancer can bring. Last year we helped 387 people in Sheffield claim £140,283 in benefits and Macmillan grants.
