My story

Bolton Lads & Girls Club have entered a team into the 2013 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge, a 3,000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean starting at the Canary Islands and finishing about seven weeks later in Antigua.

We are doing this to raise £250,000 which will be used to ensure the Junior Mentoring Project can continue to offer this vital support to some of the most vulnerable children in Bolton. There is currently a waiting list of nearly 200 kids that the mentoring programme could quite literally make a life changing effect on their young lives and therefore we wanted to take on an extreme challenge that would raise both awareness and the funds needed to allow this not only to continue but do away with the long waiting list. The rowers are Mark Brocklehurst, Nick Griffiths, Matt Tomkin and Finn Christo. For more information or to see how the team is preparing for the race go to www.boltonatlanticchallenge.co.uk Thank you for supporting us in our challenge and helping the young children we have to protect.

My updates 2

The Lads & Girls Club is a Positive Place for Children and Young People. 3,000 Children and Young People use the Club every week. Some come just to enjoy the new facilities, for others the Club becomes a second home where they know they will always get a warm welcome and find a caring and supportive member of staff ready to help with any problems they may have.
