Story

Picking up the baton from the intrepid Lands End to John o'Groats cyclists, 3 of the famous Heathershaw brothers (they are very well known in Hornsea) and an old friend are now going to cross the country by another way.

Stuart, Chris and Nige Heathershaw and John Ferraby will be embarking on the Alfred Wainwright Coast to Coast walk from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay on the 10th May.
The walk is 192 miles over the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Moors. We hope to be supping a pint of real ale in Robin Hood's Bay by the 21st May.

The walk has been organised by Stuart Heathershaw as part of his 60th birthday celebrations, we cannot believe that Stuart is 60 - he doesn't look a day over 59 !

The cyclists have so far raised over £11,000 with £9,000 being donated to Beth for her new Boma wheelchair. The remaining £2,000+ will be going to the Aspire spinal injury charity -

Aspire's projects and services have a very simple goal - to provide the practical support needed for people with spinal cord injury, from injury to independence.

If you would like to donate to this very worthwhile Charity then please click on the Donate Now link above.

Thank you for your support.

Special Thanks To Fran Ferraby for supporting us the second half of the journey! and buying us lovely pies on our breaks, it was much appreciated! Thankyou!!

We have now reached the Target of £9,000 for Beth. Thank you very much for all the donations!! Please continue to support us, as all the extra money will go to Aspire and benefit many other people with spinal injuries. So please keep donating :)

We will update our progress at the bottom of this page so keep checking!

We made it!!

Hi Guys,

Well, it is finished. It was pretty hard on the last couple of days with sore bums and tired legs but on the last day the sun came out and we had some amazing views! John o Groats is really beautiful, i'd really reccommend visiting! We have just had our cigars and coronas on the banks of Loch Ness, watching the sun go down.

Photos will be up soon, Keep sponsoring, we have nearly reached
£10 00!!!!!!!

Thank you for all the support, it has kept us going!

Dave, Sam, Ali and John

Day 5!

Its going well! our legs are heavy and our bums are sore but we're feeling good! We are now in Bolton, about half way through the journey! We have done 420 miles so far! Big day tomorrow to Penrith, 90 miles. Hopefully the snow will clear up in Scotland.

A big thank you to all those who have supported us, and put us up, The Cowells, The Hills, The Pulfords, The Holmes and the numerous hostels, and especially to Alison Corbett, Alison Smeatham, Jon Mills and  Katie Hill for the teas and cakes along the way! Everyone has been so kind, giving us amazing meals to keep us going!

*Important to note - if we manage to raise more than the said amount (which is the price of the Boma), all remaining money will go into Aspire's Human Needs Fund which provides essential equipment for spinally injured people. Aspire will be giving the money you donate to Beth to spend on a Boma*

About Aspire:

Spinal Cord Injury has a devastating effect on the 1,200 people who become paralysed each year.

The individual affected will lose muscle and sensory control and the vast majority become full time wheelchair users for the rest of their lives.  Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work-places and leisure time.

Sam Corbett, Dave Ferraby, John Ferraby and Alistair Corbett are going to cycle from one end of the country to the other! All 1408 Km! From Lands end to John O'Groats!

We are raising money for 19 year old, Beth Monks, former Great Britain climbing team member. Beth has suffered from a spinal cord injury due to a car accident in May 2009. She broke her neck at level C5/C6 and as a result is now tetraplegic, paralysed from the chest down, without functioning triceps or hands. We are going to raise as much money as we can so Beth can purchase and enjoy the wonders of a Boma wheelchair! This amazing 4x4 all terrain wheelchair will enable Beth to get back to the beach and all her favorite places, hopefully giving her back the outdoorsy fun lifestyle she craves!

View the Boma Wheelchair coping with snow and all kinds of rough terrain and conquering getting down and up(!), steps at http://www.moltenrock.co.uk/

If you would like to sponsor us please contact Dave Ferraby, Sam Corbett, John Ferraby or Alistair Corbett. We aim to do this epic ride in the easter holidays! Visit us on...

We really need your help to help us think of the money raised when our arses are sore, and our sperm count is down!!! (We will also be wanting a go with the Boma when our legs are exhausted from peddling!!)

Thankyou so much for your support! - it means a lot! :)
