Our personal message:

We are the Borders Barmy Army and we have decided to scare ourselves s***less for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Update 5 May: Well, we did it and it was fantastic. We also raised over £2500. If you hear the noise of the Barmy Army boys (and girls), we'll coming doon the slide.

Update 1 May: 2 days to go. A HUGE thanks to everyone at Steve, Chris and Lee's work who collectively threw £431.78 into the charity buckets we brought round yesterday. This has exceeded our wildest expectations. Brilliant, thanks again.

Update 29 April: 5 days to go. Troops: READY. Sponsorship Forms: READY (nearly). Kilts: READY. T-Shirts: READY. Booze for afters only: READY. Question is, is Penielheugh ready for us?

Update 23 April: Apparently the ground drops away at one point so that the highest section above the ground is a poop-enducing 250ft. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far. If you haven't please consider doing so below.

Update 18 April: We now have 16 team members, well done guys.

Update 17 April: Thanks to BMG Networks (BMGnetworksltd.com) for the T-Shirts and celebratory drinks for afterwards.

Update 10 April: Thanks to the Gala Fairydean Football Club for donating £87 from their "Bottle on the bar".

Update 3 April: A few of us visited PenielHeugh Monument on Wednesday - it's b****y high.

There is a Zip Slide organised for Sunday 4th May 2008 at Peniel Heugh Monument in the scenic Scottish Borders. Peniel Heugh is a historical tower which reaches the dizzy height of 150ft.

And we, the barmy army, well you'd have to be barmy wouldn't you, will be jumping off it on Sunday 4th May 2008. And what's more we will be doing it in KILTS - yes, KILTS !!  We must be mad eh? Apparently the Zip Slide is 1000ft long too. Gulp!

The Anthony Nolan Trust is a very worthwhile charity which promotes and encourages people to join its Bone Marrow Register. The Anthony Nolan Trust operates the UK's most successful register. Every 21 minutes a child or adult is diagnosed with leukaemia or an immune deficiency disease. The Anthony Nolan Trust offers a solution to this very large problem by offering hope and the chance of living to patients with leukaemia who need a bone marrow transplant if they are to survive. The Anthony Nolan Trust provides lifesaving donors for patients in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant.
