The Mums that go to Kingston Buggyfit classes and their Instructor Anna, ask you and your friends to sponsor them in a charity walk from Kingston Bridge to Hampton court on Thursday April 3rd.

‘My son Gabriel was born in January 2013 at 28 weeks weighing only 1lb 12oz by emergency Caesarean. During the eleven weeks and 1 day Gabriel spent in hospital we gradually watched our tiny baby grow, open his eyes and eventually cry. Tubes were slowly taken out of his small body and monitors gradually disappeared as he became stronger. After arriving each day at the hospital and saying goodbye to our son each evening we were told we could bring our baby home – we watched so many babies arrive and leave the Neo-Natal Unit but we were finally the parents who were bringing in their car seat to take their baby home. Gabriel has continued to grow and develop and it is amazing to watch, he is so much fun and has a cheeky little character.

My husband and I often talk about those 3 months and the rollercoaster of emotions and I don’t think we will ever forget a single day during that time. We are eternally grateful to the nurses, doctors, consultants and the Born Too Soon Charity for not only looking after Gabriel until he was well enough to come home but alsofor supporting us. We had good days and bad, it was scary and at times frustrating, but, it was sometimes the small things that would give you hope; a few photographs taken during the night, a birthday and Mother’s Day card from Gabriel with his photograph, a lovely knitted blanket left by his incubator ready for when he came home. Those 3 months were the toughest of my life but as I look at Gabriel they were completely worth it and made so much more bearable due to the support, care and patience of the staff in the Neo-Natal Unit and the Born Too Soon Charity.
