Thank you for visiting our fund raising page.
We did it!
On a wet Sunday in April, Ruth and I completed the 2006 London marathon, crossing the finishing line together.
We were great for the first 12 miles, slower for the next 6 and "challenged" over the last 8. We took 5 hours and 13 minutes and are pleased, after our disrupted training schedule, to have done so well. The many kind sponsorships were an inspiration to us to keep going.
We are weary, relieved and pleased with ourselves.
So far, on line, on traditional forms and with some promised corporate donations we expect to raise £4000+ for the NSPCC. Further on-line donations can be accepted througout May and will be very much appreciated.
Ruth was one of the youngest competitors in the full marathon with her 18th birthday being just a couple of months before the big event. Steve has run the London marathon just once before, in 1994. This is probably the first and last (definitely the last!) opportunity for father and daughter to run together in a marathon and represented an exciting (if a little daunting) challenge for both.
The NSPCC do wonderful work to protect the most vulnerable in the country. Children should not have to put up with the abuse that some suffer at the hands of those entrusted with their care. Please dig deep and sponsor Steve and Ruth Bowyer online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Neither Ruth nor Steve have the challenge of handling the money raised. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: NSPCC will receive your money direct and faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
