Story
Well, the weather was probably worse than last year. But we all got round, as you can see at www.ahaa.org.uk/greatsouthrun2007.htm.
As expeccted, I was last in of our Bracknell Catholic churches team. Christina McCann and Annette Baldock (left) were our other walkers - but sped away from me at the 50-yard mark...
And the great news is that all sorts of good sorts have sponsored us - so that with on-line donations like those below, cash and cheques, and Gift Aid, CAFOD will benefit by about £5500.
Many thanks to everyone - our patient families, our friends and other supporters in far-flung places, the CAFOD team before and on the day, and the people of Portsmouth again.
In 2005, I followed the Run with a visit to Banda Aceh in Indonesia - to see how your CAFOD and Disasters Emergency Committee donations had been put to use in the tsunami recovery programme. At the new elementary school at Labuy, I left my GSR medal (which I got just for finishing) with the head teacher Mrs Rashni - a better home than on my bookshelf. This year's medal will also find a home somewhere.
If you like the idea of a 69-year-old staggering around Portsmouth on the day - plus training beforehand - you can appreciate me by giving generously to CAFOD. I heard the applause as I got round: the most clapped-out runner there....
Many thanks
Huge
