Syringe drivers are a small but vital piece of equipment we use for residents at the end of their life to ensure that they are comfortable and pain free. They administer medication via a pump under the skin and are used when a person has difficulty swallowing or are comatose. Throughout Lothian the present type in use are being updated to a new model and we need to follow suit. The McKinlay pump costs £1000 and we hope to purchase 2.In order to help us towards our target we plan to hold a sponsored walk along Portobello Prom in August.
