Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Nina's JustGiving page.
Nina lost two sisters, her grandmother and my brother to breast cancer, so it is a disease very close to our family. Nina lived with breast cancer on a daily basis, since it first knocked on her door in 2009 and, after a brief respite in 2010, returned with a vengeance in 2011. Things took a turn for the worse early last year, and it saddens me to tell you that Nina passed away peacefully in her sleep on 18th March 2014, 9 months after she was give 2/3 months max. She was always willing to prove any man wrong!
Nina was not one to stand around and let this happen – after her secondary diagnosis in 2011 we went to Vietnam (twice), Cambodia, Thailand, Turkey, Morrocco, India, China, Madeira, Portugal (twice), Croatia and Poland. She continued to drive her beloved Ginetta racing car at both Kames circuit and Doune hillclimb until September 2012 when, despite being barely able to walk (don’t tell the Motorsport Association!), she posted her last ever time of 66.66 – If you knew Nina’s reputation, you would appreciate the irony in that number!
Nina and I were together for 40 years – she was my love, but she was also my best friend. We enjoyed the good times together, and it was Nina who kept me on the path when times were tough. To say that I will miss her is not nearly close enough.
Nina was passionate about her motorsport, and equally passionate about the need to fund research into as desease that effects so many people, young or old. Obviously donations of any amount are welcome, and Gift aid means the charity gets more money from the government.
