Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
A few months ago, we were asked if we would like to enter a cycle team into ‘The Massif Challenge’ and help raise money for charity. We decided to accept the challenge and I gathered together volunteers to ride in our team. One of those volunteers was Jayne Mackenzie who had worked in our sales team for eight years.
A week after she accepted the challenge, she became ill and was diagnosed with liver cancer. She very sadly died on July 18th. Before she died, I was able to speak with her about the cycle ride and as a result we are determined to continue with the ride to raise money for Addenbrooke’s Charity Trust – Hepatology Fund.
Jayne was treated in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and we are raising this money for the trust in memory of her.
The Massif Challenge will involve cycling 500 miles as a relay team across rural France. Each team member will be completing approximately 50 miles per day over the three day period. We will be starting out at Lens which is south west of Lille and making our way across the country to finish at the foot of Puy de Dome which is the highest of a chain of volcanic peaks and is also one of the Tour De France finishing posts.
Two thirds of the sponsorship money raised from our cycle challenge will be going to Addenbrookes Charitable Trust Hepatology Fund, the remaining third will be split amongst the organisers charities.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Extra Mile Challenges gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
