In memory of James Peter Hallam Walker
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My father, James Peter Hallam Walker, died on the 7 September 2011, after a long struggle with illness. He had many health problems when he died, but the one he suffered most with and for the longest period (over 40 years) was rheumatoid arthritis. Despite the constant pain he never lost heart and he never gave up.

To honour his memory and to raise some money for arthritis research my wife Linda and myself are planning to ride the Coast to Coast (C2C) challenge on the 21-23 June 2012.

We'll ride 136 miles over 3 days, starting from Cumbria, passing through Keswick and ending up just outside Penrith on our first day. On day 2 we'll be tackling the climb over the N Pennines, including the Hartside Summit climb (which is 5 miles long!), then to Allenheads, Nenthead, Garrigill and ending up in Rookhope. Day 3 will see us climbing out of Stanhope, before a long, fast descent through Consett to the Tyne or the Wear depending on our mood on the day!

It'll be hard as neither of us are that fit and both need to lose some weight, But the diet and the training has started, the pounds are being shed and our legs are getting more wirey!

On the ride I know we'll struggle at times but if that's the case I'll just remember Dad's pain and how what I'm feeling won't even compare. I'll not lose heart and I won't give up. If all fails they'll have to drag me off the bike!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you

Brent & Linda
