Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

Weldmar Hospicecare makes every moment matter for adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, in their last twelve months. Our specialist compassionate care, given in patients' own homes and at our hospice, comes from doctors, nurses, counsellors and therapists, for patients and their loved ones.

Story

Hello everyone!  Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

On Sunday 13 April 2008, we will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Weldmar Hospice Trust. Weldmar Hospice provides care (free of charge) for patients in Dorset with cancer, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis.

Our friend, Jim, was diagnosed with a rare and particularly nasty stomach cancer 18 months ago and was given 2 weeks to live.  Jim’s son Harrison was about 6 months old at that time.  Jim fought the cancer and against all the odds had two memorable Christmas days with his son and wife Diane. During the last few months, Jim was a patient at Weldmar Hospice and they provided care and support for both Jim and Diane.

Unfortunately, Jim passed away in the first week of February. We will both be thinking of him on the day and hopefully be raising lots of money to help the charity to support families in a similar situation.

Please dig deep and sponsor us online.  Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Weldmar Hospicecare Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
