FRANK Water Projects - Rickshaw Run Winter 2013 · 1 January 2013 ·
Charitable Greetings!
Thank you for at least making it this far!
As part of an epic adventure Jess Cone, Richard Gong and I are driving 3500km in a glorified 3-wheeled lawnmower (aka rickshaw) to raise a bucketload of cash and awareness for FRANK Water - a small UK based water charity that is making a BIG impact and saving lives through funding innovative and sustainable clean water projects in India. With 88 new clean water facilities in India so far, all Frank Water projects are community owned and run, with a priority on community ownership, education and longevity.
For those of you who don't know, this is a return trip to India for me. In 2007, I spent 7 terrific and terrifying, eye-opening weeks traveling alongside my grandparents in the country that I promised myself from the moment I left, I would return to. Having seen first hand the detrimental and unsanitary living conditions millions of Indian people live in, I understand how important the work FRANK Water does is. I would be lying to you if I said what I saw there didn't impact my decision to become a nurse.
In India, like other countries in the developing world, millions of women and children spend hours a day walking collect water from distant, often polluted sources (UN). Biological and chemical pollutants like fluoride, E.coli, cholera, hepatitis A and salmonella contribute to diarrhea being the LEADING CAUSE OF ILLNESS AND DEATH AROUND THE WORLD- killing more children a year than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. According to WHO, a staggering 88% of these deaths are due to a lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities.
With your help, FRANK Water can grant communities access to clean, safe drinking water. Your donations will go DIRECTLY towards:
* £195 (310 CD) – buys sand and carbon filters with valves
* £90 (143 CD)– buys a UV kit
* £45 (71 CD)– funds an awareness campaign for village
* £25 (39 DC)– funds a water committee training
A whole project costs around £5000 and provides not only water but jobs for the community! If you would like more information about FRANK Water, please visit the website inked.

On behalf of team Tuk Tuk Goose, I want to thank you for your donation - no sum is too small! ALL money raised will go directly to FRANK Water and directly towards improving the lives of millions living in poverty - BECAUSE CLEAN WATER SAVES LIVES.
With thanks for digging deep to donate,
Brianna Hamlin
