The charity works to increase knowledge, awareness and understanding, and campaigns for improved standards and availability of care. beat's telephone helplines take 20,000 calls a year. They support a UK-wide Self Help Network and provide awareness training across the UK.

My story

Hi, thanks for considering sponsoring me.

I've included some information regarding the charity that I am hoping to raise money for. I deliberately wanted to choose a charity that was not as mainstream or in the public eye as some, and have read a couple of articles that have shocked me recently which I have enclosed links too if people are interested.

Of all forms of mental illness in the UK Anorexia has the highest fatality rate, and reports suggest that this illness is on the increase, with as many as one in twenty young women thought to suffer from an eating disorder. It is also thought that there are over a million people in the UK with an eating disorder.
