Story
Hello,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This summer I am going to try and cycle from Dunkirk to Capestang. The trip is around 850 miles and the idea is to do it in 14 days with 3 rest days. I am already focussing on the rest days. I am cycling with 6 others and there will be 2 drivers for the support vehicle. If you want to know more about then trip visit our blogsite which is http://francecycle2008.blogspot.com
Obviously the real reason for this lunacy can be put down to my mid life crisis which seems to be gathering momentum rather than slowing down. However it would be great if I could raise a bit of money for a very good charity at the same time. I know I am being very optimistic at setting a target at £5,000 however not as optimistic as cycling 850 miles in 14 days in the searing heat of France in June and July. 14 days which includes 3 rest days...did I mention that already? The picture is of me practising for the rest days! There will be 3 of them!
Anyway apart from the odd half marathon years ago I have not raised any money for charity. As for my cycling pedigree well before September 2006 I hadnt been on a bike since I was on my paper round at school during the mid 1970's!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospice Association Scotland, (CHAS) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Update 20th June 2008
Well the day is fast approaching. I have not had the best of weeks as far as preparation goes but that is another story!
I am overwhelmed at the level of sponsorship people have contributed. Everyone will be thanked individually but I just though I would post a big thank you on this site
THANK YOU
We leave on Sunday and start the pedal on Tuesday 24th I understand the intention is that the blog site will be updated as we go along if anyone wants to keep track of things!
Anyway well done to all my sponsors
Yours in lycra!
Brian
Final update
Well we did it. 870miles was the official mileage. Everything went well especially thanks to Bob and Cliff in the "support vehicle" It would have been so much harded without them soring things out. Only 2 punctures out of 6 cyclists.
It was a fanatsic trip
