The German Dream Team, aka Monika and Bettina, have decided to put our hearts - and bums - on the line and cycle to France in the Brighton to Paris Bike Ride.

Why? Well, that's a good question.

It all seemed such a marvellous idea after a few G & Ts late one Saturday night. We thought: "Why don't we ride to France for some culture and a decent croissant" while saving money on a Eurostar ticket. We don't even remember signing the competition forms. We think it must have been done it under hypnosis and at gunpoint!!

No, seriously, it's for an amazing cause. The Argus Appeal helps relieve poverty, sickness and hardship for some of the most vulnerable and forgotten members of society, the elderly, disadvantaged children and others who don't make headline news but who need our help just the same.

Please dig deep into your pockets to help us raise as much money as we can for them, and remember that if it hurts to sign the cheque or hand over your credit card details, we'll be feeling 50 times as bad. We'll be putting up photo evidence on this website, so you can follow our progress and laugh. While you get to participate in the bike ride vicariously, we'll be the ones suffering the saddlesores and the blisters and the aching backs and the rude French...Come to think of it, maybe it's not such a good idea after all...

P.S. A big thank you to Geoff Wiles, former English cycling champion, for keeping his promise the help make our bums less sore during training, and also for being a great teacher and inspiration.

Monika und ich werden Ende July nach Paris radeln. Wir tun das um eine wohltaetige Organsation, die aeltere Leute und Kinder welche in Armut leben zu unterstuetzen.

Hier in England wird das haeufig so gemacht, dass sich Leute auf eine sportliche Art und Weise fuer wohltaetige Zwecke einsetzen.

Wir werden ueber 3 Tage, ~ 240km und mit einen ziemlich schmerzliches Hinterteil unsere Fahrraeder nach Paris transportieren und wollen dafuer Eure finanzielle Unterstuetzung.

Wir werden natuerlich Photos auf die Seite runterladen, sodass alle Sponsors einen Eindruck von unserer Reise bekommen. Photos von dem gluehenden Hinterteil werden allerdings nicht versprochen.

Also, bitte mal flach oder ganz maechtig tief in die Tasche greifen und her mit der Kohle. Es ist wirklich fuer eine gute Sache.
