Update: finished in 4 hours 43 mins!
On April 10th I’ll be running the Brighton Marathon (26.2 miles) to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Last year I successfully completed the same event dressed as a gorilla; this year I’m upping the stakes further by running dressed as a giant stick of seaside rock. I really want to stand out from the crowd – the costume is approximately 9 ft (2.75m) tall. As per last year, I’m aiming to finish in less than 5 hours, and expect to clock up about 400 miles in training runs.
Why a stick of rock? I’m running in memory of my friend Brian, who died this year from pancreatic cancer aged just 45. After he was diagnosed last year, I decided to run for Cancer Research, and asked him to come up with a fancy dress idea – the more painful and humiliating the better. This was his suggestion.
So please sponsor me if you can. If I could reach my target of £2000 it would make all the dark, cold, late night training runs, and the public humiliation of the costume more than worthwhile.
Thanks for visiting. If the photo has given you a good laugh, please sponsor me!
