At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

So, when telling people about my trip over the past couple of months, the question that nearly everyone has asked me  (after 'Are you crazy?' and 'You do know there's lots of water between Bristol and Brisbane, don't you?) has been 'Are you doing this for charity?'. The answer to this question was 'no'. I initially decided to not make this a 'charity ride', because it was just about me cycling off on an adventure and having some fun, so I didn't think that was worthy of asking people to put their hands in their pockets. Also I didn't really want the pressure of promising some particular target that is normally wrapped up in these charity things. However, some people have indicated that they would like to make a donation to charity in the Bristol2Brisbane name. My Grandma has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and so I have set up a Just Giving page for the Alzheimer's Society. There is absolutely no obligation for people to donate, but for those who want to, this is the charity I have chosen.
