RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

The British Cartoon Archive are entering a team in the RNLI 10 mile sponsored walk between Whistable Harbour and Kings Hall Herne Bay on Sunday 11th May 2008.

The archive of cartoonist Carl Giles is held by the BCA at the University of Kent. Giles is well known for the artwork he produced for RNLI Christmas cards and his life long support of the charity. His archive of artwork, correspondence and studio equipment is currently being catalogued and digitised as part of a project to develop the online database of the archive. This project will be completed in March 2009.
