Story

The British Deaf Association Wales is doing a sponsored walk along the promenade of Swansea Bay to raise funds for the British Deaf Association. This is a walk with a difference - a midnight meander along the shores of Swansea Bay!

The Swansea Bay Deaf Lamp Walk will start at 11pm on the night of Saturday August 15 2009 and finish at approximately 1am. Starting at the car park of Swansea Civic Centre (County Hall) the walk will follow the former tramway around the stunning moonlit bay towards Mumbles – and back again.

The event, which is hoped will become an annual event, is being held during the twilight hours due to a tradition of Deaf Clubs. After closing time, members have always lingered under the streetlights signing way into the night.

Supported by the Lord Mayor of Swansea Cllr Alan Lloyd, BDA Wales are hoping this major event, which is open to both deaf and hearing people, will attract walkers raising much needed funds.

Your donations would be welcomed and needed to continue the work of the British Deaf Association in Wales.

So please dig deep and donate now.
