Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 15th February 2012, my Dad went to A&E with an exreme headache and his speach was slurred. The initial diagnosis was a stroke. However, as the hours passed his health rapidly became worse. within 24 hours he was paralysed from the waist down, 24 hours later from the neck down.
He was transfered from Oldham to Salford and placed on a life support machine. My mother and I made the painful decision to turn the machine off at 11.30 on Wednesday the 22nd of February. Moments later, we last him. Meningitis. it doesn't just affect the younger person.
I am pushing my mum around the Great North Run in her wheelchair in memory of Dad, and to raise the awareness of meningitis in the older generation.
