Update 31 May 2011
The team set off in good spirits and reached Fort William (the base of Ben Nevis on schedule).
The conditions were far from ideal with heavy snow and strong winds on the summit plateau and driving rain on the lower slopes. Despite this the team made good time managing to summit in 2 hours 45 mins. However when descending a couple (who had just got engaged!) were found in real distress (on the verge of hypothermia). The decision was instantly made to assist mountain rescue in getting these people safely off the mountain.
This involved taking the couple to a place where the rescue helicopter could land and staying with them (keeping them warm and safe).
They were, after an hour, safely evacuated leaving the team to descend the rest of the mountain in heavy rain and total darkness.
Once all back on the ground the team set off back towards England for the next mountain however four mile down the road and disaster.
A fully grown male deer ran straight out in front of the bus leaving no chance of braking or swerving. The resulting crash luckily did not injure any of the team but did cause terminal damage to the bus.
After a number of phone calls to the hire company it became clear that a replacement bus would not be arriving until 11am the following day so the team had to spend the night sleeping in a very cold and wet bus!
Once the new transport arrived the team set off and even though it was now impossible to complete the challenge valiantly climbed Scarfell in under 4 hours. (No mountain rescue this time!)
The team arrived back in Leeds at 1.30am tired disappointed but immensely proud at what they had achieved.
The whole team would like to thank everyone who has made a donation or offered support
At a birthday party a number of parents started a discussion on how best to help the development of children in the local community. Nearly a year later and here we are – Welcome to the Brodetsky Primary School National Three Peaks Challenge.
Darrell, Jamie, Steve, Ilan, Olivia, Roland, and Kyle will on 29 May 2011 attempt to reach the summits of the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales on the same day! This will involve nearly 1000 miles in 24 hours and ascents of over two and half miles: 3407m (11,171ft).
So why are we doing this – well the short answer is because it is hard! (but achievable). Also it gives us an excuse to ask you to sponsor us in aid of Brodetsky Primary school.
Brodetsky is the educational heart of the local community. It provides students with a balance of learning, social interaction and play. Memories and friendships formed at the school last a lifetime and transcend across the world.
As with any establishment resources are always an issue and with your help (and a bit of effort on our part) we aim to donate money to help fund initiatives such as developments in ICT, sports equipment, library book and arts equipment.

Please give as generously as you can (and pray for good weather in May!)
Many thanks,
The N3P Team.
