Mr Barton has persuaded Mr Dunford to attempt a 300 ft bungee jump on Sunday May 15th, 3.30pm.
Mr Barton has bungee jumped nine times so far and, as an ex member of the Parachute Regiment, is well experienced at jumping from great heights. He exercises regularly and enjoys the thrill of death defying experiences.
Mr Dunford on the other hand has never bungee jumped, has a severe fear of heights, prefers good food over excessive exercise and has certainly never been a member of the Parachute Regiment.
To ensure that Mr Dunford overcomes his fear of heights, is able to join Mr Barton in leaping off a platform suspended 300 feet above Salford Quay and then to bounce repeatedly until reaching the ground that at one point seemed beyond reach (Yes that is a long sentence but has been written for persuasive effect.) you must all agree to donate money. You must also get members of your extended family to donate money as well as neighbours, colleagues, friends and the obscure 'friends' on Facebook who you only met once.
A video of the jump will be taken as evidence and will be posted on the school website.
All the money raised will be used to upgrade our school library. We want to introduce a computer system that logs books taken out and connects to an on-line database of activities linked to each book. Pupils will be able to access these at home and use them whilst they are reading a particular book. To make the most of this we would also like to to purchase a new range of good quality books for all ages and reading levels. These will not be reading scheme books but high quality fiction and some non-fiction books.
There is no limit to what can be purchased but if enough is raised we could by a large range of books and create a fund to add to the library each year ensuring we can always update our stock.
We would like to raise at least £5000 so please give generously. You will be able to donate via this site.
