Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Update: 25th July 2010. Swim Completed in 1 hour 26 minutes in near perfect conditions - 5th Overall out of 206 swimmers so I'm chuffed. Thanks to all the well wishers. On Sunday 25th July, I along with a mix of other participants from recreational swimmers right up to seasoned athletes from the world of triathlon, open water and long distance swimming, am taking on the Brownsea Island swimming challenge. It's a 4.6 mile circumnavigation of Brownsea Island in the tidal waters of Poole Harbour. This open water distance is uncharted territory for me and although I still train regularly when I have time I am concsious the mileage is going to be a real challenge and will require careful pacing.
Last year the event raised £9,500 for good causes so to mark the start of Lifeboat week in my home town of Lyme Regis I am raising funds for the RNLI. Living on the coast, I spend a lot of time in or on the water and see at first hand the work the RNLI does and the time the many volunteers put into training. Remember the RNLI is an independent charity that does not receive any funding from the UK government. They cannot save lives at sea without public support. Lifeboats need to be designed, built, fuelled and maintained and their crews trained and equipped. Lifeguards also need training and equipment.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the RNLI.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks
