Story

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope this means that you're giving consideration to making a donation to my chosen charity which is the Shooting Stars Chase Children's Hospice.

Bryn's disclaimer

Although my marathon training has gone well, I think it's only fair to let you know that I am struggling with a knee injury and therefore I'm not entirely sure if I'll complete the race although you can be sure that I'll give it my all. I am receiving intense physiotherapy and I'm keeping everything crossed (except my knee of course)

So in 1992 I ran the 100m at the Barcelona Paralympics. 20 years later I've upped the distance to 26 miles and those all important 385 yards (I must find out how much a yard actually is). Despite a few niggles over the past 9 months my training has gone well. Being a visially impaired athlete, I have had the odd accident during my training which have included tripping over paper boys & girls bikes, dogs, road work fencing that wasn't there the week before, dogs, a florists stall, horses and err... more dogs. I have managed to get the mileage in though and I'm hoping to finish in just over 2hrs . . . . well just to clarify, 2hrs after the winner or the mens race.

So to the important bit, my charity, as a parent of two fit and healthy boys, I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to cope with a terminal illness in the family. The Shooting Stars-CHASE Childrens Hospice offers help and support to individuals and families in Surrey and South West London with children and teenagers who are not likely to reach the age of 19. Even as I type this sentence out, I can feel the emotion pull inside and I know that this is what will help me if, or more likely, when I encounter a few difficult and dark moments during the race on 22nd April.

I would be extremely grateful to you for any donation that you're able to make.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many Thanks

Bryn
