ROUND TABLE TO SCALE NEW CHARITY HEIGHTS
The West Suffolk Blind Association will become the latest organisation to benefit from Bury St Edmunds Round Table when the group tackles its latest charity challenge in June.
Round Table have unveiled a team to undertake the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ – a tough 24-hour challenge in which the 10-strong team will climb the three highest mountains in Great Britain and aim to raise £1,400 towards the Blind Association.
Round Table Chairman and Team Leader Philip Healey-Pearce commented: “The West Suffolk Blind Association is an extremely valuable local cause and the money we raise will go towards the cost of special computer software that they urgently require. All the guys are delighted to have the chance to help out and get a bit fitter into the bargain!”
The ‘Three Peaks’ concerned are Snowdon in Wales (1085m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,344) – a 466 mile trip in 24-hours that is sure to stretch even the strongest of legs when the trek begins on the 27th June.
Welcoming the announcement, Alan Webster, CEO of West Suffolk Blind Association said: “This help has come at just the right time. The support from Round Table ensures that we can plan to bring the project on stream later this year.”
