Story

I’m running the Farnham Pilgrim marathon on what would have been my daughter Esme’s 3rd birthday, Sunday 18th September 2011.

As most of you know my daughter Esme, or Bubby as we called her, died in July 2010 after months of horrendous treatment at Great Ormond St Hospital. We miss her so much and we don’t think we will ever come to terms with how much she suffered in those last few weeks.

Bubby probably died from secondary HLH caused by an underlying disease Leishmaniasis which wasn’t detected at the time. For Bubby’s full story see www.justgiving.com/esmecarter . We now want to help other children with HLH, so they don’t have to suffer like Bubby.

So far we’ve raised $34K for the Histiocytosis Association of America and over £22k (inc Gift Aid) for the Histiocytosis Research Trust. We are trying to reach our target of $100,000 – so there’s still some way to go. Please, please help me raise money for HLH, by doing so we’re giving other children with this cruel disease a chance.

Thank you so much for your donation

Jason
