In January HorseWorld was called out to rescue a little horse that had been severely neglected and was so underweight he could barely stand. Buddy was sadly one of the worst cases of neglect that we had ever seen.

A horse of Buddy’s age and breed should weigh between 280 – 300 kilos but Buddy was so emaciated that when he arrived at HorseWorld he weighed only 108 kilos; a third of what he should. As soon as we saw him we knew that we had to do everything in our power to save this brave horse. Our dedicated team of grooms gave him round the clock care – he was so weak that we didn’t dare leave his side for the first few days and we checked on him every hour, day and night.

The neglect that Buddy has suffered means that every day that he lives is a gift but he never stopped fighting for his life: he never gave up and neither will we.
