Story
We set up Build A School with the aim of building a new school in a rural village community called Mwala, in Kenya.
The project was such a success in just a few short months not only was the money raised but the school construction was also completed!
We've been back since and the school is thriving - now ranked at number 3 in the whole district (the top two are private schools so this is a massive achievement). We also funded setting up a new health group and rates of HIV infection and other serious illness are also on the decline.
So - what's next... well school number two!
We have fallen in love with the Chura community and they desperately need our help.
At the moment, to get to school, children from local villages are having to walk over 8km. There is a river in the way that keeps bursting its banks, so it is very dangerous for them.
Therefore, a local man acquired the land on his own and built the beginnings of a school - to try and start a school nearby. Amazing. He explained that as the school had now over 100 pupils, they are obviously desperate for help with equipment and ideally a much better building.
Please help us! We've love to get our second school complete by next summer.
