I have decided to undertake this famous 26.2 mile challenge as part of the London Ambulance Service 2014 London Marathon team, to raise money for The Ben Kinsella Trust, which the LAS has chosen to support for the next two years.

The Ben Kinsella Trust was set up in 2008 by the family of Ben Kinsella, who died as a result of a knife attack in London. He was 16. The trust aims to raise awareness of knife crime among young people, and the devastating effect it has on families and communities. 

Working for the LAS, we see and deal with far too many instances of knife crime (1 instance is too many quite frankly) and while a common belief if that knife crime is something that happens to other people, in neighbourhoods far from where you live, we know that this isn't true. It's happening all over London and it's happening to young people, and it can be avoided. 

So please donate what you can in order to help this wonderful charity. In return we'll sweat our way through 26.2 miles of London scenery. We want to do it because we want people to benefit from our efforts - we want to put an end to knife crime.

Christina will be running the London Marathon for the first time. She's hoping to complete the course in just under 6 hours.
