We are a group of friends who will be taking the long trip North on the West Highland Way commencing
Monday 23 August and hopefully ending in Fort William on Friday 27August. Should all twelve participants complete the trek it will be viewed
as quite an achievement as the furthest most of them have ever
walked to date is between O’Donnell’s Bar and the Duntiglennan Bar when one or other establishment is showing that day’s must-watch Football Match on TV.

It was in these bars where the plan was first hatched and, with copious amounts of alcohol playing a major role in discussions, it was agreed that no midge would deter this gallant band from completing the arduous journey North and hopefully raising a fair bit of cash for a very worthy cause in the process.

There can be very few people who do not know of the fantastic work done by the staff of St Margaret's Hospice of Scotland in Clydebank.
This was brought home to us recently when a very close friend of ours,
Stephen Burns (Burno) lost his long battle with cancer and spent his last days in the care of the Hospice. We know how much Burno appreciated the care he was given as did his family and we feel the least we can do is to give something back to the Hospice as a token of our thanks.

Please donate what you can and be assured it is going to a truly worthy cause and in the name of a very special person.

We will also be raising funds by many other means with the highlight set to be a fund-raising night closer to the time of the walk so watch this space. We will of course be looking for raffle prizes but would also urge you to donate anything you feel may be of worth as we plan to open an ebay sellers account to help boost the total raised. Also
look out for t-shirts going on sale nearer the time to mark the event.

You can keep up with how the fund raising is going on our facebook page  which will also carry updates (hopefully audio and video) on our progress as we stumble along the long road to Fort William.

Those taking part who promise not to get too shamockitised en route are:

Martin Walsh
Raymond "Poro" Walsh aka The People's Chump
Paul McLaren
Chris "Shammy" Manley
John Geegan
Gerry “Smudger” Smith
Stevie Gallagher
Jim Reilly
Davy Cunningham
David Coote
Bob O'Donnell
Jim Boyd
Gerry McCarte
