As a group of Sixth Form girls, we are trying to raise money for the Wings of Hope Charity ( registered charity number 1099685) which provides free education in developing countries to children living in poverty, orphaned or separated from their families
In Malawi the Wings of Hope funds the House of Hope, which offers support to almost 600 children and young adults from the ages of 3 to 20 who have been orphaned because their parents have died of AIDS. The House of Hope provides a nursery school, after school care and a youth programme to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. Additionally, The Wings of Hope funds the School Support Programme, which covers the entire cost of the education of students between 11 and 22 years of age.
In India The Wings of Hope supports a school in Nemilicherry ( ) in Chennai, southern . The school offers a quality education to around 360 children, from kindergarten to Class 10. There are 12 classes, with an average size of 30 children per class. The school’s staff of 17 dedicated teachers instructs in Languages (English, Tamil, Hindi), Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences. Much emphasis is placed on value-based education, under the motto ‘The End of Education Is Character’.
14th November:
We held a cake sale at school and raised over £120!
17th of December:
We completed a blind folded run across Oxford Street on the whilst in fancy dress to raise money for this deserving charity! So far we have raised over £600!
19th January:
We made and educational quiz to sell to younger students in our school and so far have raised £27!
3rd of February
We held a huge dance session at school during a lunchtime raising a total of £50!
15th February:
We are holding a valentines day themed party for people our age and so far have raised £1000!
1st March:
We are holding a quiz for younger students in our school and are aiming to raise around £400
