For the past 25 years, the JoLt Trust has taken countless disadvantaged, ill and disabled teenagers on journeys of a lifetime. During these month-long expeditions to remote places like Alaska and the Andes they learn confidence, trust, respect, self-worth and teamwork.

Story

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: JoLt Trust (Journey Of A Lifetime) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

....and the challenge is this:

10 days of total silence. That is 864 000 seconds. Try it for a while. It's not easy!!

Some of you will know Sarah Bird. She recommended Vipassana meditation to me after doing a course in India. Mine is slightly less exotic being in Cromer, [Norfolk I think]. The course entails 10 hours a day of silent meditation but the silence is total throughout the 10 days.
Sarah said it's the hardest thing she's ever done and the most rewarding. Obviously she's a bit of a weirdo but you never know. I start on 10th August and emerge on the 21st.
The charity I'm raising money for many of you will already of heard of or taken part in fundraising events for. I've been involved for 15 years now and it is an exceptional charity. For more details go to www.jolttrust.org.uk Level of donation. For students I reckon £10 [£1/day] would be a fair contribution, obviously there's a sliding scale for the workers up to Conor and Julian where maybe £1/ second would be more appropriate + a Christmas bonus. IF YOU DON'T SPONSOR ME YOU RISK BEING THE FIRST PERSON I VISIT UPON RELEASE!! Course timetable: 4:00 a.m.--------------Morning wake-up bell 4:30-6:30 a.m.--------Meditate in the hall or your own room 6:30-8:00 a.m.--------Breakfast break 8:00-9:00 a.m.--------GROUP MEDITATION IN THE HALL 9:00-11:00 a.m.-------Meditate in the hall or your own room 11:00-12:00 noon-----Lunch break 12noon-1:00 p.m.-----Rest 1:00-2:30 p.m.--------Meditate in the hall or your own room 2:30-3:30 p.m.--------GROUP MEDITATION IN THE HALL 3:30-5:00 p.m.--------Meditate in the hall or your own room 5:00-6:00 p.m.--------Tea break 6:00-7:00 p.m.--------GROUP MEDITATION IN THE HALL 7:00-8:15 p.m.--------Teacher's Discourse in the hall 8:15-9:30 p.m.------- GROUP MEDITATION IN THE HALL 9:30 p.m.--------------Retire to your own room--Lights out NB If anyone is concerned re the ethics of using the course as a fundraising venture I have checked with the powers that be and they have no problem with it.
