Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After two years of letting my locks grow and hearing my nan continually nag about my dreads, I have decided I will bring in the new year with a new look for her.  When I asked her what she wanted for x-mas and her birthday this year she asked me to get rid of my dreads.  When I asked her this question i did not expect her to be in hospital recovering from a stroke on her birthday and xmas.  So I want her to start the new year on a happy note and I am giving her the belated xmas/bday wish. As the hours count down so will the dreadlocks with the final cut being made at midnight of dec31st/jan 1st.  Even after the dreads are gone though the rastaman will live on.  Please support this charity as they continually work to continue to allow people to live longer who suffer froma  stroke. I am asking for a donation of two pounds minimum per dreadlock that will be cut off which is 64 dreadlock and 64x2=128. If you can give more great.  If you want to keep a dreadlock please let me know although my dreadlocks will be going to a lady that specializes in creating wigs out of dreads.  Thank you.

My name is Anna, I work with a small charity in New Brunswick, Canada, dedicated to
making wigs for the kids in the Oncology department of the IWK in Nova
Soctia.. I myself have lost my hair to the difficulty of Chemotherapy
and have had donations of wigs
to myself, and just wanted to give back a bit.

Me and a group of Cancer survivors have made over 50 wigs for everyone
and everyone who needs them, but we were looking for donations of anyone
who does not want their dreadlocks anymore or who knows anyone who is
planning on a change of haistyle.

The reason why I am making this post in a dreadlock forum, is because I
know that soooo many wigmakers won't accept dreadlocks because they are
more difficult to work with, but I think that that is just a waste of
hair that could be used for the greater good.
About... 5 of the 50 wigs we have made have been dreadlock-based, and
all of those 5 were positively received by the people who accepted them.
It doesn't matter what color, how long, how thick, or how short, we can
work with them.

So, that's my pitch.. If ANYONE has any donations at all, or knows
someone who may be willing to donate their locks, all donations are
greatly appreciated :)
