<p>Mell Oliver and I are taking part in AUCB's fundraising event 'Leggit' to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young. The event starts on the 18th April, and with other teams from our uni, our aim so to get as far away from Bournemouth as we can in 36 hours without spending a single penny! We are relying on the lovely people we meet on the way! If you know me or Mell you will know how adventerous we are, and we intent to do this properly and give it our all!<br />The charity we have picked is Cardiac Risk in the Young, in memory of our friend and photographer, Nick Jarram who died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2009.<br />Relatively little is known about Sudden Cardiac Death, but what is known is that it occurs in fit and healthy young people and has few or no warning signs. A simple ECG screening test would highlight a problem and enabled young people to get the preventative medical help required to allow them to live the long and happy lives they should have had.<br />The charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) runs a screening program, produces literature aimed at raising awareness of the condition, prodvides financial and technical support for vital research, and runs a bereavement program. As an added incentive, we have decided (Mell has decided!!!) that if we hit the &pound;100 mark we will do the whole 36 hour hitch in tiger suits!
