Story
Hi, my name is Janet Mohapi-Banks. The devastating earthquake that hit Haiti happened on my fortieth birthday and I of course, wanted to do something to help. After talking to friends who also said that they wished they could do something more than just giving money, I decided that the best way to help was to organise a fundraising event that everybody could get involved in. As a professional cake designer the first thing that came to my mind was cake, and so Cakes For Haiti was born.
Cakes For Haiti is something that everybody can get involved in, whether it’s organising a cake sale, baking for it, or simply buying the wonderful cakes on offer. Everybody can actually do something to help Haiti.
My target is to raise as much as possible to help the people of Haiti through the DEC. Of course, I cannot do this alone. I have the tremendous help and support of my husband Steve who has built this website and Paul Clark from Tonic Creative who has created all the graphics and designed the website. In addition to them, the web hosting has generously been donated by Forward 3D and I have also had the lovely support of Nicky Wootton from NZ Marketing and PR who has given her time and efforts to publicise the event.
But the most important support I could get is from you. Without you, the event has no chance of being a success. Whether your sale makes £10 or £1,000 every penny is very much appreciated and will go a long way in making life better for the victims of the earthquake. So I thank you all; very much indeed, and hope that you enjoy your cakes and sell many of them!
