Well 35 of us set off on the ROSY walk as the sun rose over Oxford and early morning mists cleared.
I made my target 18 miles and got to the pub lunch rather faster than I expected. Not through the call of a beer but I found myself setting off with the pace-setters at the front of the pack. And then there was no going back. Definitely not the leisurely ramble I'd envisaged, but very glad to know my legs still work after years of neglect.
I'm so thankful to sponsors who've already helped me toward my fundraising target. And if you're thinking of sponsoring me - please go ahead! I'm still raising money for ROSY - it may take some time as a faulty email system on JustGiving here has meant no-one got my main email. And I'll have to send out emails one by one. .
The work at ROSY is so important. The charity provides specialist nurses and equipment that mean really sick, sometimes terminally ill, children can be cared for in their own homes. And that exhausted parents can take a rare break knowing their child is well looked after.
Its all run by volunteers, so 100% of money raised goes to paying for the nurses and equipment.
ROSY currently helps 35 families in Oxfordshire. But there are over 100 on the waiting list. Their only other option for respite care is Helen and Douglas House. Without charities like these, there would be no specialist care outside of hospital - the NHS simply can't afford it.
Yet for families who are seeing the toughest of times, it makes SUCH a difference.
So please do contribute whatever you can.
Thanks for visiting this page and supporting. And please do join us on the ROSY Ramble next year - everyone is welcome - it's great walking and talking for a great cause.
