Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
THANKS to everyone who helped us reach our target! We would love to raise even more and hopefully reach £2000!
In August 2010, we will be cycling 380 miles across the punishing English terrain from to . This is not just a normal charity bike ride, as we will be pushing ourselves to the limit by carrying all our equipment, including the camping gear that it is needed for this 5 day trek.
This is over 75 miles greater than the London to Paris route, and a lot harder than the Sport Relief relay cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End as their equipment was much better than what we will be using - none of us have racing bikes, and 2 of us will only be using standard mountain bikes.
We realise that this is going to be extremely tough, however your donations to El Shaddai will motivate us to complete it.
The Charity
El Shaddai's aim is to rescue orphaned children from the streets of . Most of these children became orphans due to parents dying of drug overdoses or disease, and have been forced into rummaging for items in landfill sites for less than 10p a day, or begging on the Indian railways. Many of the children taken were deliberately injured to increase their begging potential, in order to provide more money for their 'owners'. If you have seen the film 'Slumdog Millionaire', then you will have an idea of the lives these orphans have to live through.
However, El Shaddai aims to rescue children from these conditions, and once in the charity's care, they're housed, fed, educated and, most importantly, shown the love and affection most have never experienced. It currently has more than 2000 children across in its care. For more info on this charity, please visit www.childrescue.net.
With your money, this charity can continue it's outstanding work and provide care and shelter for the street children of India.
