Monday 11th April We've done it! :-) We're over our target already although a few collection tins are still to be emptied...Yipiii! Would be great if we could reach £1000 actually which would be enough for 2 computers! On l'a fait! Voyez de vous meme les photos... Merci pour vos dons. Peut-etre arriverons-nous jusqu'a £1000 pour 2 ordinateurs de recherche! Eccoci qua! L'abbiamo fatta! Grazie per le vostre donazioni. magari ce la facciamo ad arrivare a £1000 per 2 computer speciali! Thursday 31st March Brilliant day today. We are on the front page of our local newspaper. Our swimming pool and sports centre said they will help by selling wristbands and they will also hold a cake sale next wednesday, day when we all go swimming every week. I might have to wear my PJs then too! :-) Super journée aujourd'hui. Nous occupons la première page de  notre journal local. La piscine a aussi accepté de vendre des bracelets et ils organisent une vente de gateau mercredi, jour de la semaine ou nous allons tous a la piscine. Peut-etre devrais-je y aller en pyjama cette semaine! :-) Che bella giornata oggi! Siamo in prima pagina del nostro giornale locale. La piscina ha pure accettato di vendere bracialetti speciali ed organizzano una vendita di torte mercoledi prossimo, quando andiamo tutti quanti a nuotare. Forse mi tocca andarci in pigiama sta settiamana! :-) Notare pure che Nico ha accettato di andare a lavoro vestito pure lui con i pigiama! Thursday 24th March 2011, Yipii, Nick is going to wear his PJs to work on the day too!! He's going to need all the encouragement possible! :-) And a big thank you to my mum who's organising her own special event on the day: a massive apéritif to raise even more funds and awareness in France as well as here! Nico va mettre son pyjama au boulot aussi! Un grand merci a notre super moumoune pour son apéro géant qu'elle organise pour nous aider. Saturday 12th March 2011, Hi! Coucou! Ciao! Friday 8th April, we're organising a Pyjama Day with the day nursery our children attend in Cam. We're hoping to get the local schools and shops involved too. Obviously, I will be wearing my pyjamas all day too, walking to town, doing my shopping, attending the super Zumba class, etc. Vendredi 8 avril, on organise une Journée Pyjama avec la crèche ou vont nos enfants pour encourager des dons à Meningitis UK, association caritative qui travaille pour trouver un vaccin contre toute forme de méningite. J'ai contacté les écoles du coin pour qu'elles participent également. Bien sur, je me baladerai moi aussi en pyjama toute la journée...en ville, au supermarché, au super cours de Zumba... Venerdì 8 aprile organizziamo un Pigiama Day con l'asilo dove vanno i nostri bimbi qui a Cam per sostenere le donazioni all'associazione Meningitis UK, che ricerca e studia per trovare un vaccino contro tutte le forme di meningite. Speriamo di riuscire a coinvolgere anche le scuole locali. Ovviamente, indosserò il pigiama anche io durante il giorno, per andare in città, per fare la spesa, al corso di Zumba ecc. On Friday 7th January this year, our 4 month old son Mattia was admitted urgently to hospital for a meningococcal scepticemia. In simple words, he had meningitis + his blood was affected by the bacteria too. That day was the worst we've ever had as we were told there was a possibility our son would not make it. But luckily he did and he has actually made an incredible recovery. We feel we have been very lucky. We're still getting over the shock of it all so that's all I can explain of the events at the moment. Vendredi 7 Janvier cette année, notre fils Mattia alors agé de 4 mois seulement a été admis d'urgence à l'hopital pour une scepticémie à méningocoque. Pour faire simple, la meme bacterie avait atteint ses méninges et empoisonné son sang. Ce jour là, certainement le plus difficile que nous ayons eu à vivre jusqu'à présent, nous avons du entendre qu'il était possible que notre fils ne survive pas. Heureusement, il a bien survécu et il s'est meme rétabli d'une faocn extraordinaire. Nous sommes encore un peu sous le choc de tout ce qui s'est passé en si peu de temps, je n'arrive pas à vous en raconter plus. Venerdì 7 gennaio 2001 nostro figlio Mattia, che aveva solo 4 mesi, è stato ammesso d'urgenza all'ospedale per una setticemia dovuta a batterio meningococco. In parole povere, ha avuto la meningite ed anche il sangue è stato infetto dal batterio. Quel giorno è stato il peggiore della nostra vita, ci fudetto che nostro figlio forse non ce l’avrebbe fatta. Per fortuna ce l’ha fatta ed ha avuto una ripresa incredibile. Ci sentiamo molto fortunati. Ancora ci stiamo riprendendo dallo shock e questo è tutto quello che riesco a raccontare di quei giorni. The thing is there are different strands of meningitis. Mattia was affected by strand B, there is no vaccine for this yet. Meningitis UK works towards the finding of a vaccine to cover all types of meningitis. We want to give them all the support we can so that one day, we can rest assured that no one will be at risk of contracting any form of meningitis. Le truc c'est qu'il y a plusieurs formes de méningites. Mattia a été affecté par un méningocoque de type B pour lequel aucun vaccin n'existe encore. Le but de Meningitis UK est de trouver un vaccin pour couvrir toutes les formes de méningites. Nous voulons leur apporter toute l'aide que nous pouvons pour qu'un jour nous puissions etre assuré que personne ne risque plus se souffrir de quelque forme de méningite qu'il soit. Il punto è che ci sono diverse forme di meningite. Mattia ha contratto la meningite di tipo B, per la quale ancora non esiste vaccino. Meningitis UK lavora per trovare vaccini per tutti i tipi di meningite. Vogliamo dare a questa associazione tutto il supporto possibile in modo che un giorno potremo riposare tranquilli e stare certi che nessuno sia a rischio di contrarre qualsiasi forma di meningite. We know this will not happen overnight though. In the meantime, we feel it is vital for everyone to know about all the symptoms of meningitis, to be aware that it's not just the case of a tumble glass test. As a matter of facts, we didn't even need to grab a glass that night. The marks were so specifically red, we knew something was wrong big time! We were very lucky to catch Mattia in time but the way he worsened from the time we left home til we got to hospital is barely immaginable. In their current campaign, Meningitis UK emphasises that meningitis can kill in less than 4 hours and we can surely believe this!! Nous savons que cela ne se fera pas du jour au lendemain. En attendant, il est très important que tout le monde connaisse bien les symptomes de cette maladie qui peut arriver à tout le monde à tout moment et se développer extremement rapidement. Nous avons eu beaucoup de chance que Mattia soit pris en charge à temps. La facon dont son état a empiré ne serait-ce que le temps du trajet pour l'hopital est à peine immaginable. Dans leur récente campagne, Meningitis UK insiste sur le fait que la méningite peut tuer en moins de 4 heures et nous n'en doutons pas une seconde!! Sappiamo che tutto questo non si risolverà nel giro di poco. Allo stesso tempo, pensiamo sia vitale per ognuno di noi conoscere i sintomi della meningite, sapere che si può diffondere in qualsiasi momento e molto velocemente. Le macchie che si sono manifestate sono state così diffuse e rosse, che abbiamo capito subito ci fosse qualcosa che non andava. Siamo stati molto fortunati ad accorgercene in tempo ma il modo in cui le sue condizioni sono peggiorate nel tragitto da casa all’ospedale è quasi inimmaginabile. Nella campagna di sensibilizzazione di Meningitis UK, viene detto che questa malattia può uccidere in meno di quattro ore, e lo sappiamo bene!! The £500 we are targeting to raise could buy a lab computer. We'd be over the moon if we could go largely over this figure though! ;-)   Les £500 que nous nous sommes fixés de récolter pourront permettre l'achat d'un ordinateur spécifique pour laboratoire de recherche. Nous serions super heureux si nous pouvions meme dépasser cette somme! ;-) Le 500 sterline che ci stiamo proponendo di raccogliere potrebbero comprare un computer da laboratorio. Saremmo ancora più che felici se riuscissimo ad andare oltre questa somma! ;-)
