Story

Dearest Family, friends and supporters,

Cameron was born on the 27th December 2009 at 06:44.  He weighed a perfect 9lb 2 1/2oz and was 52cm long, he had black hair with a little curl in it.  He was wanted so badly within our family but sadly he can only join us in our hearts.  He was loved so very much from the moment we found out we were expecting and will be loved for the rest of our lives.  For such a small person who only had a place in the world for the 9months he was carried he has brought so much love to everyone we know and was loved so much by so many people.

We hope that in time we can somehow take something positive from this devastating time and that Camerons short life will make a difference to people who did not know him, as it has done to those that did.

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity has a nationwide network of local support groups run by bereaved parents to support anyone affected by the death of a baby. Fife Sands have given us invaluable support, have provided us with our memory box, and maintain the baby gardens as well as fulfilling many many other crucial roles.  All money raised from now on will go to Fife Sands.

Coast to Castles 2010 cycle ride. This event is planned for the 17th to the 19th of September and will be a 200 mile cycle ride from Edinburgh to finish at the North East Coast of England. A team of up to 10 riders will be taking part and we plan to assist in raising money for the Sands Charity in memory of Cameron Roberts as well as Luke McCann.  Congratulations to all that took part, they raised an amazing £1504!  Thank you to everyone that support them.

"The Cameron Cup" was a huge success!  Thank you so much to everyone who helped, supported and sponsored us.  Thanks to our families and friends for all their help, to Peter Scudamore for being a fantactic auctioneer, and to everyone who donated money, raffle prizes and auction prizes.  Huge thanks also to CR Smith who showed us amazing support with prizes, sponsorship and entering a team!  We raised a total of £5090 for Fife Sands which will go a long way towards getting Fife a Bereavement Midwife.

With huge regret Mhorag has had to withdraw from the London marathon due to injury.  Thank you for all the support so far, and we are pleased to say that she will be looking to complete a marathon in September/October time instead so all sponsorship will be carried forward to this marathon.  Wishing you a speedy recovery and good luck for the marathon you choose later in the year xxx

Thank you so much to our friend Rachael, she raised an amazing £360.15 at her bake sale!  Nigella eat your heart out!  Thank you Rach xxxx

Thank you so much to Fortis Lease UK, they have donated £250 (plus £70.51 giftaid) to SANDS in memory of Cameron.  Means a lot to us and we are very grateful.

Mike and Craig Stevenson are doing a 5km fun run for SANDS on the 5th June!  Good luck guys, I'll be waiting at the finish line with the water!!

Thanks to Craig, Mike, Brian and Graham who are going to compete in the Monster Challenge in Camerons name!  Please support them!  Thank you so much guys xxx

About Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity

SANDS is a UK charity which was established in 1981 to offer support to bereaved parents and their families when their baby is stillborn or dies soon after birth.

The charity offers a range of services to parents and families, and to the health professionals who care for them and their baby. SANDS' UK office is in London and there are more than 150 local support groups and individual SANDS contacts throughout the UK.

Its services include a national telephone Helpline, resources for health professionals, information services and publications that help with the emotional and practical aspects of losing a baby.

SANDS local support groups are run by people who themselves have had a baby who has died. They offer befriending support, by phone, at home or through group meetings. Many groups work with their local hospitals to improve care and services for bereaved parents. This often includes raising funds for facilities such as bereavement rooms, which can greatly ameliorate the painful experience of losing a baby.
