I've decided to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Medecins du Monde UK, the charity my sister is interning for :) It takes place in London, this October. MDM is an international humanitarian aid organization, helping to provide medical care to vulnerable people in both developed and developing countries. Having travelled quite a bit I have witnessed many different living situations and seen the effects of poverty first hand. For instance, I recently moved back after a long stay in Tanzania (which isn't even one of the poorest African countries) and there we had to face the facts; it wasn't just that they have the medicine, even if they did, they wouldn't be able to afford it. I feel as if I've gained insight into how much they actually are in need of medicinal aid. This is why I really wanted to run for MDM, they make a difference in the life of those who can't afford medical checks, medicine, or treatment whatsoever, for their family or themselves. I thought maybe I could try to make a difference by helping MDM using my spare time to train and ultimately run for them.. And maybe you can make a difference by helping me out with fundraising..? All the money goes directly to MDM and is used in a variety of their projects.
