Story

Updated on May 22nd 2011 at 7:51 PM from the JustGiving API

The intrepid walkers have all now returned safe and sound from their walk - tired but happy. Thanks to all who contributed to the Beatson trust and made such a fitting tribute to Martin and Bobby.

Updated on May 12th 2011 at 7:50 AM from the JustGiving API

The walkers begin their walk today over the Pyrenees! Good luck!

On 11th May 2011 Frank Burns, Gerry Crampsey, Andy Johnston, Chris McKenzie and Hugh Wallace are travelling to Spain to walk part of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela pilgrim’s route.

Our walk is 70 miles over 5 days including a 3000 ft climb over the Pyrenees.

In 2010 we lost 2 lifelong friends - Martin and Bobby Rigby - to whom we would like to dedicate our Camino.

Martin died on 22nd April 2010 at the age of 65, after battling leukaemia for over 20 years. His brother Bobby, aged 64 years, passed away later that same year on 30th August 2010, having been diagnosed with a particularly aggressive cancer just 6 months earlier.

Both Martin and Bobby received wonderful care from the Beatson Cancer Unit in Glasgow and, in recognition of this, we have decided to seek sponsors in aid of the Beatson Oncology Centre Fund and are asking for any donations you would like to give to this worthy cause

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
