Story

Hi everyone

With your help, we would like to fund and manage the delivery of 1,000 hours of specialist child counselling in Scotland.

Here is the reason why we know this will make a difference.

Over the last 2-years, we have traveled the length and breadth of Scotland, delivering 200 happy place workshops, reaching over 11,000 children across the length and breadth of Scotland.

Our workshop uses music and storytelling to help young people explore themes of emotion, loss, resilience and hope.

Our mission is to engage, educate and empower. We’ve learned so much and are immensely proud that teachers have told us about positive and happy children who have an increased understanding about mental health, grief, the power of positive thinking and the benefits of artistic expression.

We have heard that children who have lost loved ones have opened up and engaged for the first time in months after attending our workshop. Also, other kids who maybe didn’t know how to talk about grief with their friends and fellow pupils, are now talking. We’ve made a difference and with charitable status, we now want to do more.

One thing that we can't do (we don't have the skills or experience!) is to provide follow up professional counselling sessions for these amazing children and potentially for their family too.

We were shocked to learn from one parent that they had been told their child would have to wait 3-years for grief counselling.

So ... lets try and change that. With your help we can.

Happy Place Workshop started with one song and us talking openly about our grief, emotions and the effect on our mental health and wellbeing.

Our Dad Bert has inspired everything we do, who we are, the way we do things and our values. Happy Place was written in a dark time when our Dad was really ill. Towards the end of his life he loved to look out to the rolling Lanarkshire hills around Tinto. He was in his happy place.

Now, we’re building something that will support the emotional wellbeing of children across Scotland for years to come. That’s a legacy our Dad would be proud of.

Lets go.

Thanks for all your support
