31 years ago we were challenged by God, the Christian Community and the growing levels of homelessness in Salisbury, to set up Alabaré, and in doing so offer a safe home and support. These were challenging but exciting times. Having never done this before, we stepped out in faith and launched our first appeal to raise £40,000 to buy our first property to be known as Barnabas House. Many doubted we could do it but through prayer and the generosity of you and the community in Salisbury, we achieved it.

This summer we mark 30 years since Barnabas House opened. We celebrate the thousands of people who have rebuilt their lives with our support, both at Barnabas House, and also in the homes we have gone on to open with your help and prayers. Together we have touched the lives of thousands of people not only in Salisbury but now across the South, South-West and Wales.

The sad reality is that homelessness is as much a problem now as it ever was. We all see the increasing pressure on families and individuals struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and the tragic inevitability that some will be tipped into the crisis of homelessness. Equally the devastating events in Ukraine and beyond mean its vital we can offer a safe sanctuary and new start to those young people seeking asylum from war and persecution and who are scared and alone in our community.

Making sure that all our clients have the best support, facilities and opportunities available to them, not just today but in the years to come is vitally important. This is why we find ourselves challenged once more to raise £40,000.
