Story
Our young people have sacrificed a lot through the pandemic - it has taken its toll on friendships, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our school is already working hard to address what has been lost and with some extra help from all of us they can do more to support our girls.
Coombe Garden will be created in the pond area at the bottom of the school field. The area needs to be cleared, the pond replaced, and a new planting plan created, making use of sensory plants and those that encourage a diverse ecosystem put in place.
The area can also be used for science and nature study. Plans will include a secluded seating area and allow pupils to appreciate the calming effects of the natural world away from the bustle of this busy secondary school.
Some of this work can be achieved using parent and pupil volunteers which will make it a real team effort, but we also need to raise funds to make Coombe Garden a reality. What a wonderful opportunity to create a natural area that not only our daughters can benefit from but future generations can enjoy. Below is a photo of what the area looks like today (a bit overgrown and unloved!) and an aerial image.
This can only be done with your help. We appreciate any amount you can give, large or small, the more of us who contribute the faster we can start this exciting transformation. The campaign will remain open through the summer term from May 14th so please act now!
Thank you so much for your support.
